Saskatoon Pride’s Two Spirit Ball
Get dressed up for a celebration of Two Spirit lives as we tune in to the Saskatoon Pride Two Spirit Ball. On Sunday, March 28 at 7:00pm CST, join in for the second edition of this virtual event which is inspired by the gifts within our Indigenous community where we celebrate its culture, authenticity and diversity. The ‘digital stage’ has been set with Saskatchewan Indigenous and Two Spirit artists and performers ready to share their work, stories and talent with us all. This year’s Two Spirit Ball features performances by LJ Tyson, Cheryl Trade, Chelazon Leroux, Tyler Beaudry, Joe Jackson and Kasey Atcheynum. We acknowledge that this event takes place on Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the Métis, but our performers come from all over this land that we call Saskatchewan.
This event will be streamed on Saskatoon Pride’s Youtube Channel and on Facebook Live.
Thank you to our funders for their generous support of the Two Spirit Ball: TD, Sask Lotteries, the City of Saskatoon and the Government of Canada.
LJ TYSON (he/him)
LJ is a Country-Pop artist from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. LJ Tyson is of Cree/Metis heritage and identifies as bisexual. Identity has become a major part of his artistry and sound. LJ uses his music to connect with diverse audiences and bridge the gaps that disconnect us. The raspy uniqueness of LJ’s voice and the blend of pop-country he produces make him a must hear for music lovers. Connect with LJ Tyson on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Tansi! My name is Cheryl Trade and I am a 30-year-old Two Spirit entertainer from La Ronge. After travelling around the country and starting my drag journey in Vancouver, I am currently living and working on my artistry in Saskatoon. With the current isolation, I have honed in on my skills as a makeup artist, hairstylist and musician. I can’t wait to share more of my art and performances with you. Connect with Cheryl Trade on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
TYLER BEAUDRY (he/him)
Tyler Beaudry is a 27-year-old multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer based in Saskatoon. Being both Metis and Two Spirit, Beaudry’s art is very much a reflection of his Identity. It occupies a grey area between pop and experimental, professional and DIY. After completing this term, Beaudry hopes to begin the process of recording and releasing his first full-length EP this Summer.
JOE JACKSON (he/him)
Joe Jackson was born and raised in the northern town of La Ronge. After years of classical training on piano, he decided to pick up the fiddle at the age of 13 after having heard his dad play “Baba O’Reilly” by “The Who.” Since then, Joe has pursued any and all styles of music he could find. From Métis and French Canadian music to Jazz and Big Band to Irish and Cape Breton and Klezmer to Balkan. Over the years, Jackson has played and toured extensively both as a soloist and as an accompanist for various bands, theatre ensembles and even with a baroque chamber orchestra. Jackson currently lives in Saskatoon and is a new managing partner at a live music venue. Connect with Joe Jackson on Instagram.
