Anthony Bidulka is a celebrated author renowned for his captivating mystery, thriller, and suspense novels. His literary achievements have garnered nominations for prestigious awards such as the Crime Writers of Canada Arthur Ellis Awards, Saskatchewan Book Awards, ReLit Award, and Lambda Literary Awards. Notably, in 2005, Bidulka made history as the first Canadian to clinch the Lambda Literary Award for Gay Mystery. In 2023, Bidulka’s novel, Going to Beautiful, won the prestigious Crime Writers of Canada Award for Best Crime Novel. Hailing from a farm near Prud’homme, Saskatchewan, Bidulka’s writing is deeply rooted in the landscapes, history, and Ukrainian heritage of his upbringing.
In this engaging session, Bidulka will delve into the intricacies of his acclaimed Russell Quant and Merry Bell series, highlighting the significant Ukrainian content woven throughout his narratives. Joining him in conversation is Jack Raslich, a PhD candidate in History at the University of Saskatchewan, whose research focuses on the pivotal Gay American Indians movement of the 1970s.
